Hello and Welcome!
Happy Birthday to all those Cancerians out there – born in June or July.
This month I am featuring the Summer Reminisce kit from Creative Memories to make Cancer Sun Sign birthday cards.
As you know, Cancer is known as the crab. It has a connection to the ocean. So my 1st card has an ocean theme.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon, but I put a “sun-kissed” sticker on the card. The start of Cancer is also the 1st day of summer, Summer Solstice. And you can get very sun-kissed enjoying the ocean and beach in the summer!
Cancer also relates to our heritage or our roots. The entire Summer Reminisce kit is a heritage type kit. It reminds me of those vintage postcards. So my 2nd card is a vintage postage type birthday card. The card features a beautiful bird and flowers. The saying says “In Summer, the Song sings itself”. Loooove summer!
On both of these cards, I used a “Secret Spotlight” technique. I used punches on the busiest patterns I could find on the card. Then I lifted the punch on the card using foam squares. This creates a subtle effect you can only see close up – like a hidden message
To make these easy, fun, FREE cards –
1) Download the photographs from my blog. If you want to make a 3-d card, you’ll need 2 copies of the card front.
Here is the Ocean Card Front – Full Size Print Quality
This is the Full Size Print Quality Card Front for the Summer Song Card -
2) These card fronts are for Small Business Size cards, 3.5” x 6” long. Need help
with this?
I have 2 videos to help you make small business size cards (cut and score):

3) I’m using an Ivory card base instead of white. Ivory matches with the kit colors better than white. Ivory matches the heritage theme, also.
4) Cut the card base from 4” wide to 3.5” wide. Or _just_ a little bit less. I use my Personal Photo Trimmer (#646206), it is easy to use and makes great cuts.

5) Have Brads you want to add? Silver color is esp. good for Cancer. Add them now so they don’t show through your card.
6) Glue or tape the card front onto your card base. I use my tape runner (also avail. In purple) #631424

7) Instead of cutting out the 3-d embellishments with scissors, I used my punches. Scallop Maker Punch #627694, Hummingbird Maker #647013 and the Friendship Maker for the Blossom shape punch.
8) I used an EK Success Crab punch on the Ocean card. Awesome!
9) I adhered the punches with Foam Squares #642045

10) If you have trouble matching up where to put the punch, use your punched negative to navigate!
11) Add any bling (Silver preferred).
12) Send to your friend with a smile!
Have a wonderful day!
Lisa
